We prioritise breeding Labrador Retrievers that exhibit a natural instinct for retrieving, a keen sense of smell, and a lack of gun shyness - all qualities that would be required if they were working in the field. Although we don't train our dogs for field work, we recognise the importance of preserving these inherent traits in the breed.
In addition to their working abilities, we are equally committed to cultivating the true Labradors Retrievers temperament - friendly, loyal, and eager to please - which makes them the ideal family pet.

We believe that a Labrador should be versatile and adaptable, able to excel at a range of tasks and activities, from long hikes in the great outdoors to simply curling up on the couch with or without their human family.
Our breeding program also places a strong emphasis on soundness and health, so that our Labrador Retrievers are able to handle the physical demands of field work or long days spent exploring the great outdoors.

Our breeding program also places a strong emphasis on soundness and health, so that our Labrador Retrievers are able to handle the physical demands of field work or long days spent exploring the great outdoors.
By combining natural instincts, a sound temperament, and robust physical health, we aim to produce Labrador Retrievers that are not only exceptional companions but also capable of fulfilling their potential in a variety of settings.
At Isaiki Labradors, we firmly believe that our dogs are not just pets, but important members of our family. As such, we ensure that all our puppies are raised in a home environment and not in kennels.
We understand that dogs thrive when they are part of a family and receive the love and attention they deserve, which is why we take great care in socialising our puppies from a young age.
When you receive one of our puppies, you can be confident that they will already be accustomed to living in a home environment and be ready to become an integral part of your family too.
We believe that by raising our puppies in a home environment, we can provide them with the best possible start in life and ensure they grow up to be happy, healthy, and well-adjusted dogs.
We take great pride in our breeding program and our commitment to producing healthy and well-socialised puppies. Our dogs are not just breeding stock, but beloved members of our family, and we want to share that love with all our puppy owners.
Our belief is that by nurturing our puppies in a home setting, a lasting bond can be established between them and their new families that will last a lifetime.
This was an incredible 2-day online conference. We enjoyed every minute of it, and it demonstrates that Isaiki Labradors is exactly where it should be in terms of the welfare of our dogs and the socialisation of our puppies.
We are dedicated and responsible Labrador breeders who believe in continuous learning and improvement. Our commitment ensures that we can provide the best for the Labrador breed while maintaining the highest ethical standards in our breeding practices.
Currently, all available DNA tests for Labradors focus on identifying autosomal recessive traits and provide one of three possible results:
The dog possesses two copies of the desired gene. It will not be affected by the disease and cannot pass the disease on to its offspring.
The dog has one copy of the desired gene and one copy of the undesired gene. While it will not be affected by the disease, it can safely be bred with dogs that have tested clear, ensuring the disease is not passed on.
The dog carries two copies of the undesired gene, meaning it will be affected by the disease (depending on the age of onset). It can still be bred with clear-tested dogs, but all offspring will be carriers, though they will not exhibit symptoms of the disease.
Genetic testing within the Labrador breed faces complications due to the arbitrary division between working and show lines. Some tests target diseases absent in specific lines, such as Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), which originated from a working-bred dog. The advisory chart considers mutation frequency across different lines, providing tailored advice.
Targeted DNA tests distinguish genetically normal, carrier, and affected dogs, enabling optimised breeding plans. Ensuring one parent is clear of a genetic problem guarantees unaffected offspring. Many kennel clubs and breed associations incorporate DNA testing into breeding programs to monitor and reduce inherited diseases while maintaining genetic diversity.
Dogs inherit 39 chromosome pairs, including autosomal pairs and sex chromosomes. Genes, housed in DNA strands, undergo recombination during reproduction, producing new allele combinations. Linked genes can indicate the presence of other genes. However, removing an undesired gene may also eliminate closely linked desirable genes.
Best practices recommend not excluding animals with essential merits based solely on DNA test results. Exclusively breeding DNA-tested clear dogs can inadvertently harm the breed by losing beneficial traits. Breeders should use genetic tests to make informed decisions, preserving overall health and diversity.
